Charts Work, Until They Don't
Height and weight charts get most buyers to the right size. They correlate reasonably well with torso length and shoulder width for a lot of bodies. They also fail a predictable group: swimmers with long torsos and short limbs, swimmers with wide shoulders and narrow hips, swimmers whose weight sits differently than the chart assumes.

This matters most at the shoulders. Excess material or a seam sitting in the wrong spot adds resistance to every arm rotation, and that resistance compounds over a 1.5K or 3.8K swim. A shoulder that felt fine standing in a shop can be the difference between a strong finish and a grinding survival stroke into T1.
Match the Suit to Your Training Week Before You Match the Size
Training frequency and race calendar point toward different products before size ever comes up.
