A Cleaning Routine That Works

- Rinse first in cool, clean water. Don’t shock a warm, sweat-soaked suit with hot water; it can attack the neoprene.
- Apply a small amount of cleaner to the inside lining. Focus on armpits, collar, behind the knees-the places where gunk collects. If you’re using something like a pure, unscented castile soap or a drop of gentle baby shampoo, lather it in your hands first. But keep in mind that purpose-made wetsuit cleaners are specifically formulated to leave zero residue, which matters for a material that needs to let water in.
- Gently massage the cleaner through the fabric. No wringing, no twisting. You’re loosening grime, not scrubbing a skillet.
- Rinse until the water runs absolutely clear, inside and out. Any leftover cleaner will attract fresh gunk on your next swim.
- Dry out of direct sunlight and away from heat. Flip the suit once or twice so both sides dry thoroughly, then store it flat or hanging by the waist (never by the shoulders-that stretches the neoprene).
