ALL FOR THE SWIM: Gini Fellows
Gini Fellows is a registered nurse and teacher. She turned 70 last year and qualified for the IRONMAN World Championships after competing in her first full last November in Florida. Her coach is her son, Patrick, who’s a huge inspiration to Gini as he schedules her workouts and helps her sort through her doubts and fears. Gini has always been active, being a regular at aerobic classes and gym circuit workouts, but only began competing in triathlons in 2007 after knee surgery. While rehabbing her knee her son suggested she do a woman’s triathlon. “I told him I could...
ALL FOR THE SWIM: Brad Williams
blueseventy ambassador Brad Williams posted another top 10 finish at Ironman 70.3 Liuzhou in China a few weeks ago. That wasn't his first solid result out in Asia, he won IM 70.3 Chungju last year too. We asked him for his thoughts on racing over in Asia and ended up chewing the fat on all sorts of aspects of winning at that level, from hydration and nutrition, to kit and support from sponsors. You've raced out in Asia quite a bit in the last few years, winning your first 70.3 out in Chungju last year. What makes you want to...
First Out Of The Water at 70.3 World Championships
The 2016 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship moved to the Sunshine Coast of Australia earlier this month and a field of 75 professionals athletes competed for the $250,000 prize purse. The swim had the additional element of difficultly with large swells, but it didn't slow down blueseventy athlete Lauren Brandon (USA) who exited Mooloolaba beach leading all women in the high profile race. Brandon's 22:53 split led Holly Lawrence by 29 seconds with Radka Vodickova, Annabel Luxford, Leanda Cave, Daniela Ryf and more following closely behind. Radka Vodickova & Leanda Cave lead the chase pack out of the water In the men's race Australia’s Josh Amberger was...
World Champion Mary Beth Ellis
We're very happy to announce a partnership with multiple IRONMAN champion Mary Beth Ellis. Donning a new Helix wetsuit, Mary Beth won IRONMAN Maastricht-Limburg in the Netherlands last month. “Clearly we are off to a terrific start with Mary Beth,” said sponsorship manager Ryan Vanderloop. “She has overcome challenge after challenge in her athletic career, yet nothing seems to stop her and she always comes back with a smile and a commitment to win. We admire her tenacity.” Mary Beth or “MB” as she affectionately likes to be referred to as, had glowing reviews for the blueseventy product range. "I've swam...
