Matty "boom-boom" Reed Joins the Team

blueseventy is pleased to announce the signing of U.S. professional Olympian and Ironman 70.3 Champion Matty Reed.

“We’re proud to welcome Matty to our family,” said Ryan Vanderloop, sponsorship manager at blueseventy.  “Matty’s ability to conquer both short and long distances in the world of triathlon has established him as one of a few standout pros in the world.  We talked with Matty for some time this year ensuring our gear was the best fit for him and Matty showed his attention to detail and dedication to searching out for the best in his gear.  We admired that.”

Reed will be racing and training in the Helix wetsuit, PZ3tx swimskin and an assortment of blueseventy goggles for every swim and light condition. Reed has signed a two-year agreement with the company.

Reed has a resume of 20 years of professional racing, starting from 1994 with a 4th at Auckland World Cup and has won every major short course race the sport of triathlon has offered. Reed’s greatest strength as an athlete is his lack of weakness and that has shown with his wins at the US Olympic Trials, 3rd at 70.3 World Championships and multiple wins in a variety of distances over an 18-month period.

“The Helix fits me like a glove and what I like most is how natural the feel is of the suit when swimming,” Reed said. “A wetsuit must have the right feel in the water. Being a swimmer for 25 years, I have learned that feel is everything. The goggle choices with blueseventy are full spectrum. I am thrilled to become a part of this company. I know I am with the best swimming company in our sport.”

Reed has a strong community tie within the sport of triathlon and swimming. He participates in a variety of open water swimming events each year as part of his triathlon training.

Key races for Reed’s 2014-15 campaign include:  Hyvee, Vineman 70.3, Bejing International, Escape from Alcatraz, 70.3 World Championships and a few new race courses.
