Garrard, Dye, Scheidies USAT Athletes of the Year

Recently USA Triathlon announced Triathlete of the year honors for 2013. 3 blueseventy athletes made that list in 3 different categories.  Emma Garrard was named the Women's Elite Off-Road Triathlete of the year.  Cameron Dye earned the Men's Elite Non-Drafting Athlete of the Year and Aaron Scheidies Men's Paratriathlete of the Year.

For Garrard this was a tremendous honor as it was the first time off-road honors were presented.  Garrard has been a blueseventy athlete for a few years and returned to racing in 2013 after giving birth to her son.   Her results were tremendous- She was the top American and 4th place at the XTERRA USA Championships in Utah and top American and 5th place at XTERRA World Championships in Maui.  Emma has shown tremendous character and talent balancing her elite racing and young family.

Cam Dye of Boulder is coming off of one of his most successful seasons to date. Dye, a repeat winner of this honor, topped the podium at the Dallas, Minneapolis and Tempe Lifetime Fitness events, as well as winning the Columbia Triathlon and TriRock Philadelphia events.

Scheidies has been around triathlon for quite a few years.  His home is in Seattle where he is very visible in the racing community often training with popular running and swimming groups.  Scheidies won the TRI-6b division at USA Paratriathlon Nationals and the CAF (Challenged Athletes Foundation) World Paratriathlon San Diego.  Aaron also earned a silver medal at ITU Paratriathlon Worlds.   Aaron works closely with the different foundation: ww.cdifferent.org
