EVENTS NOT COVERED BY GOVERNING BODIES:
A large number of Triathlon and Open water events do not use the competition rules outlined by the international regulatory bodies and therefore the rules applied to what can and can’t be worn is at the discretion of the event organizer.
In this case, it is always worth checking with the event exactly what the interpretation of the rules is relating to what can be worn. An event such as the State Ocean swim series allows wetsuits, swimskins, and swimwear of all types to be worn by both elite and age group participants.
On the other hand the Rottnest Channel Swim has very specific wording relating to what can and can't be worn : http://www.rottnestchannelswim.com.au/content/notice-amendment-law-1
