Kristin is a born and bred Alaskan. She was a multiple HS State Champion and All-American; then she ventured into a division I swimming program where she continued to feel her passion for the sport grow. After completing a successful 4-year collegiate career she made the transition to open water swimming. In June of 2013 Kristin completed her debut "mid-distance" marathon swim around Key West, in July she finished 1st place female in the WOWSA 10-mile world championship and in August she finished 1st place overall in the Pennock Island Swim in Ketchikan, AK and the 'Change your Latitude' 5k swim in Sitka, AK. Kristin uses OWS as a way to raise money for a rare genetic disease called Friedreick’s Ataxia that affects two of her brothers
