pointzero3 leads the way once again
19 May 2008
Swimming star Luke McKenzie experienced his first win of the 2008 season at the olympic distance Honolulu Triathlon held on Saturday. He exited second out of the water in his super slick pointzero3 and powered his way through to the front on the bike leg, making his way to a victory of over 2 minutes on Michael Simpson and Timothy Marr. Luke completed the 1500m swim, 40km bike and 10km run in a time of 1:47:25. Congratulations Luke – triple threat EXTREME!

On the other side of the country on Sunday - a day that saw nearly 2,000 athletes toe the line at the Disney Resort in Orlando Florida - it was another blueseventy athlete Leanda Cave once again crossing the finish line first among the professional women with an overall time of 4:22:52. In her two previous races of the 2008 season, Cave picked up a 3rd place podium finish at California 70.3 and 2nd at the prestigious Avia Wildflower Triathlon. On Sunday Cave, who is known for her signature powerhouse swim/bike combination, also posted the fastest run split of the day – 1:26:52 – to round out a nearly flawless victory.
Wearing the pointzero3, American Dede Griesbauer stormed through the swim in 25:55, finishing less than 50 meters behind the top men. A sub-26-minute swim would have given the American a huge lead at most 70.3 events, but Griesbauer didn’t have that luxury today, as Cave - wearing the longer legged swimskin, the pointzero3 - lurked only one second behind. Kraft, also in a pointzero3, was also in the mix, finishing another handful of seconds behind Cave.
In the men, and to no one’s surprise, Kiwi super-swimmer Bryan Rhodes was the first to finish the 1.2-mile swim, also decked out in his pointzero3. “It really makes a difference!” he said about the pointzero3.
