Kraft nails Ultraman Canada

10 Sep 2008
Kraft exits the 10km swim to get ready for the 420km bike.

Ultraman is a 10km swim, 420km bike, and 84km run. Ultra, alright! Florian Kraft managed to win this year’s Ultraman Canada Championships, with an amazing 2:34 hour lead over the second finisher, US athlete William Cohagen. And he had quite a good start in his helix wetsuit - he came out in 2:35 hours for the 10km swim which set a new course record. After horrible conditions on the bike, with high winds and some orientation problems, he even set up a new split record for the first day of the race.

On the second day he finished another 273.5 km on the bike in 9:19 hours, followed by a double marathon on the third day which took him nearly 8 hours. In the end he finished in 24:46 hours in first place.

A great race for a great athlete. Congratulations, Florian!
