blueseventy youngest rising start Alistair Brownlee put himself on the map with a dominant performance at the 2nd round of the ITU world series competition in Madrid . Whilst 2008 world champion Javier Gomez returned to the Caso de Campo in front of an expectant home crowd.
Brownlee put himself at the front all day , Pushing the pace through-out the swim and bike, never content to sit and wait for the chasers to make contact he launched repeat attacks through-out the bike leg forcing the athletes around him to work hard and keep the pace high.
Brownlee took to the run course at a rapid pace that put him 24 sec’s in front after only 2.5km . He could afford to cruise to the finish as he crossed the line in 1:51:27, some 48 seconds ahead of Aussie (Courtney Atkinson) who kicked early to beat the home favourite by just five seconds.
