On the first day of the sixth leg competition, in Stockholm, Sweden, the South African star bettered his own 50m breaststroke world record, touching in 25.94 seconds. On Nov. 8 in Moscow (the previous meet of the circuit), Burgh had clocked in at 26.08 and now becomes the first swimmer ever to swim the event in under 26 seconds. It was the fifth world record of this particular World Cup, and the third for van der Burgh (he also set the 100m breaststroke world record in Moscow).
