Bastos first out at Rock ‘NRollMan
2 Jun 2008
This past weekend on May 31st, Brazilian professional triathlete Felipe Bastos swam to step first out of the water in his blueseventy helix and then go on to claim 2nd place at the Southeast Long Course Championships with a 4:25:55 finish in the 1.2 mile swim lake swim, 56 mile bike ride and 13.1 mile run through the rolling hills of Georgia’s Bibb County.
The race, held each year on the same weekend, is known across the US as one of the toughest courses around. The challenge of the distance, the hills on the bike course and the very, very hot run course always make for an interesting race. Bastos added: “I really wanted to improve on the 3rd place finish I have had for past few years, so I decided to race smart, save some energy on the bike, and attack on the run. I ended up riding faster than last year, but still ended up with a great run.”
The Rock&RollMan serves as the USAT Regional Long Course Championship.
