A weekend of records at Ironman Austria

14 Jul 2008

At Ironman Austria, the women’s crown was taken by Sandra Wallenhorst (GER) who briefly held the fastest time at the Iron distance with her time of 8:47:25. That time time though was later eclipsed by Yvonne Van Vlerken’s time of 8:45:48 at Quelle Challenge in Roth. Wallenhorst ran down blueseventy athlete Bella Comerford, a woman who has already won two Ironman events this year (to give her seven in total). Comerford went 8:51:15, the third fastest official Ironman time in history! Nice one Bella!
Marino Vanhoenacker (BEL) dominated the 2008 male race of Ironman Austria and thus grabbed his 3rd consecutive Ironman Austria title. blueseventy’s Stephen Bayliss placed second in the men’s field.
