Dear blueseventy,

I had to write to you guys and tell you my recent experience with the blueseventy pointzero3 swimskin…

A little background :
My name is Stephen J Parshall and I am a 28 year old amateur triathlete and “professional” banker from Columbia, MO. I grew up swimming and even gave collegiate swimming a try until I retired in 1999. In 2006 I was resurrected by triathlon and immediately started on the long road back to getting in shape both physically and mentally. I quickly got back in swimming shape and gained some strength in biking and running.
I have competed in over 30 events in the last 2.5 years and am often one of the first swimmers out of the water. I have resisted wetsuits and swimskins for a long time, thinking that they wouldn’t benefit my swimming as much as they would for a beginner and fearing the loss of too much time in T1. I broke down and bought a blueseventy pointzero3 this spring and gave it a try in the pool. I really liked how it felt on my body and the way I slid through the water.
At the end of June I competed in my second half iron triathlon in Effingham, Ill with my pointzero3 in hand. While most athletes there wore their wetsuits, I was perfectly comfortable in my swimskin. I swam neck and neck with the elite athletes and was the 5th out of water (7th fastest time overall) and with the ease of removal I left T1 in second place overall! The rest of the event was fun, I held my own on the bike, but still have a long way to go in my running.
I have been reviewing wetsuits on the internet and after that race I have concluded to look no farther than blueseventy. I have the confidence that I can continue being a threat in the swim with my pointzero3 and with whatever blueseventy wetsuit I end up with; allowing me to concentrate my training on my run, so that I can soon become a threat to the overall race.

I guess all I have left to say is…THANK YOU!!! You guys are awesome. I have several people ask me about the pointzero3 every time I wear it…it always gets an enthusiastic two thumbs up!

nero comp drops time

My son was at trials in Omaha and purchased one of your suits. He plans on wearing it in the finals at Junior Nationals in Minnesota. He had a lot of positive remarks for your suit. The biggest and most important was: most of the swimmers who wore your suit dropped more time than some of the elite swimmers in the LZR. That is the bottom line to a swimmer, increasing speed and lowering time.

New wetsuit is AWESOME!

I am back from the June 19 Stroke & Stride and had a smooth time. Between work, traffic and registration, I was trying to put my new suit on for the first time 10 minutes before race start. I could tell even pulling it up my legs that the new Helix suit was roomier and more flexible than my old one. I was concerned about fastening it but figured out the new ‘reverse zipper’ without having to beg for help. The crowd at the S&S is great, kind of a party atmosphere, pros, 1st timers, kids running around and nobody taking it too serious. I got into the water just a few minutes before race start and did a few accelerations to get a little warm up. Those had always felt fine in my old suit also...but once the gun went off, I headed out at about 90% of where I would usually go out and stayed back from the front rank that I usually aim for. Within 100 yards I could tell it was going to work great, I was as comfortable as I would be in the pool ....except for the splashing, grabbing and wondering where I am going part. I started making my way through the pack and was able to find open water to swim in with just enough people to track on, but not that we were climbing on each other. Perfect. I settled into a nice bi-lateral rhythm and stroked it out. After the swim, I jogged up to my towel for socks, shoes and glasses (the Helix just fell off...another worry about racing in an untried suit passed) and headed out on the same 5k course as the 5430 Sprint. I don’t have a swim split yet, but I am sure I was WAAY faster than the 5430 disaster [previous event]. Other than a few breaststroke strokes to sight, I was close to tempo pace the whole way...but I can go faster now with more confidence in the wetsuit.

The new Helix is fantastic!

I started the swim a bit slow, but ended it swimming through most of my age group and came out of the water with a time of 26:54. This is how I usually swim. I should probably come out faster in the future so I can draft on those leaders, rather than letting them open up a gap that I consistently gain on but never close. Something to work on. By the way, I used the Element goggles with the Metallic lenses. The visibility on those are unparalleled. I wore them all the way home on the airplane after the race, and I could see just fine. I don’t know why the flight stewardess kept asking me if I also wanted a flotation vest.

new helix is great!

I just wanted to say the new Helix is great.  Had a really good swim in it in the [ITU] New Plymouth World Cup.  Came out in the front pack which doesn’t always happen!  It has good flexibility on the shoulders - seems more so than last years suit.

new blueseventy helix TST ‘an honour to wear’

The days of breaking in a wet suit are long gone since the revolution of the Blue Seventy Helix. Having the opportunity to wear the new Helix 08 is an honour on its own and I wondered how Blue Seventy could surpass my previous 07 Helix model. Well it did!! In only a few strokes I could feel the difference. Having worn other brands of wet suits I have fatigued from just the resistance of the wet suit in each arm rotation let alone from the swim I am doing, but with Blue Seventy Helix with TST it felt as close to swimming without a wet suit as I’ve ever been. I am informed that there is more technology behind this Wet Suit than just TST that add to the ease in which I can swim in this suit such as the larger underarm gusset, 1.5mm thickness in the arms, the reduced collar bulk to avoid that nasty neck rash and the swim cuffs to stop water entering into the suit at the front of the stroke but all this relates to for me is this wet suit is made to make open water swimming easier and faster. This is a superb wetsuit and an amazing step up on the Helix 07 another super wet suit and I can only recommend that if you are looking for that swimming edge whatever your ability then this wet suit is going to give it to you. Thank you Blue Seventy for your continued support, I look forward to bringing the new 2008 Helix out at the front of the pack.

I recently competed at Ironman Australia in the new Helix TST. I had been using an old sleveless Stealth wettie and swore I would never use a full length wetsuit again after a couple of bad experiences. I used to get so much fatigue in the shoulders and the first time I used a sleveless wettie it was amazing. I felt my open water swimming wasn’t where it should be so I decided to try the new Helix TST a couple of days before IM. It felt awesome!! I very quickly bought it and on race day lined up with a new sense of confidence. At IM Aus 2007 I got smahed and beat up and had the worst swim of my career. Due to some issues with my (now previous squad) I had done half the training I did compared to last year. I probably only went at about 75% perceived rate of exertion and still managed to come out of the water almost 250 places higher than last year!! I felt no fatigue in the shoulders and had expended so much less energy in the swim. I don’t come from a swimming background, but I have always been a solid pool swimmer, however struggled in the open water. My coach (Mitch Anderson) tell’s me to swim open water more. I prefer to buy a new wettie to try and get my swimming back on track as I am not a fan of open water swimming! I now can’t wait for next season. And I no longer dread the swim leg which should really be a strength. Craig from the Auqua Shop fitted me perfectly in the suit and took great care of me! Oh, and before I forget. I was given a pair of vision goggles. I have tried goggles that were “leak proof” and haven’t worked. My previous goggles which are no longer in production would sting becasue I had to wear them so tight to stop them leaking. I tried the vision goggles the day before the race and they were amazing! They didn’t leak and felt soft on the face. I quickly bought a second pair and will get a couple of additional pairs in the off-season so I know I always have a couple of spares. A very happy Blue Seventy convert signing off! 

I feel like I’m cheating

I am an Elite Bicycles sponsored athlete. They have provided me with your wetsuit since I have been riding for them. I received a new Helix and I just wanted to say that it is an incredible suit. I almost felt guilty wearing it because it felt like cheating. Thanks I look forward to racing it in again.

This suit shaved minutes of my ironman uk swim, I finally went under the hour. and also helped me out at the Long Course World Champs. Thanks for producing a suit for swimmers.

Goggles are fantastic

Those goggles are fantastic for open water, visability is top notch and they don’t fog up, leak or get easily bumped off the eye socket when given what-for in a rough swim start. Rob thinks they’re wonderful too! The only pair of goggles you can take straight out of the packet and wear, haven’t adjusted anything on them at all.
