Success for the State New Zealand Ocean Swim Series

The amazing 2013 State New Zealand Ocean Swim Series has once again been a huge success, with over 7,000 competitors competing in the 6 race series around New Zealand. blueseventy are the proud wetsuit and swimwear sponsors of this series, the largest open water events in Australasia. The blueseventy team have been at every event, giving advice and getting swimmers into exactly the right fitting wetsuit.

The series is set around the beautiful New Zealand coast line with distances for everyone, ranging from OceanKids 200m swim, ‘Give it a Go’ 300m swim , ‘Step it Up’ 1000m swim and 2.6KM - 3.3KM.

Australians Ky Hurst and Melissa Gorman have secured the biggest ever cash prize in New Zealand swimming history winning the series. First prize was $20,000. 


Hurst, a double Olympian in open water swimming for Australia, showed his class in winning the men’s race, which was fought tightly from the start.In the women’s race, Queensland’s former world 5km champion and two-time Olympian, Melissa Gorman proved far too strong for New Zealanders Cara Baker and Charlotte Webby.

The series is unique, so put it on your bucket list for 2014.
